The staggeringly widespread use of Food Stamps

With food stamp use at record highs and climbing every month, a program once scorned as a failed welfare scheme now helps feed one in eight Americans and one in four children.

That’s 12.5% of the U.S. population and 25% of children in America rely at least partly on Food Stamps.

No surprise that the NYT has also created an info-graphic to make some of the data easier to digest (pardon the pun).
