Our uptight society

10 Apr 2011

In talking about how comedy has changed since he entered the game in the 60’s, Bob Newhart points out that the obvious change is that what was considered raunchy then, would be quite tame by today’s standards. But the bigger issue he focuses on is the hypersensitivity of people today.

“The problem is that we live in an uptight country. Why don’t we just laugh at ourselves. We are funny. Gays are funny. Straights are funny. Women are funny. Men are funny. We are all funny, and we al do funny things. Let’s just laugh about it.”
