Pricing sucks

David Airey has put together a list of the ingredients in his Design Pricing Formula that appears to encompass all the major factors.

For me personally, pricing projects is one of the worst parts of the process. I’d love to charge $10 million, but no client would ever pay that much. I’d love to do work for free, but my landlord won’t accept bags of hugs and boxes full of cheer and well wishes for rent. So undoubtably I end up with something in between. Sometimes it’s the right price, and sometimes it’s not. But there’s always only one way to find out.

One of the commenters may have left the best advice though:

I like the price that lets me sleep well at night.
